Cheat’s Fish Pie

I used frozen mash but you can use fresh or powdered.
9 lumps of Tesco Frozen Mashed Potato (3 syns)
Assorted fish bits (I picked up a pack of Fish Pie mix from Tesco) and a few prawns.
1 tbsp of Cheese Sauce Mix (3 syns) not essential if you want to save syns 
Small amount of Fish Seasoning

Heat the mash as per instructions and add the cheese sauce granules
Flake the fish and add to the mash.
You can use some of your HExA for some grated cheese and sprinkle on top but bear in mind that the Reduced Fat types DO NOT MELT very well.
Place in to an oven dish and bake at 180°C for around 20 mins and just eat it.

Apple and Cinnamon Waffles (courtesy of Pinch of Nom:Slimming World Recipes)

The mix should make 4 waffles, I will know better once my mould arrives (coming from China), they are stated as syn free but since the syn value of sweetener has now changed I reckon that each waffle will be about ¼ a syn each. You will need some type of waffle mould. (available on EBay and quicker delivery than mine ) I will probably have mine with a little Fat Free Fromage Frais on them

  • 40 g Oats for your HEB or 6 syns
  • 1 Apple Crumble Muller Light
  • 2 Eggs
  • 3/4 tbsp Sweetener
  • 1 good pinch Cinnamon
  • Apple Slices for garnishing

Pre heat the oven to 180°C

  1. Blitz the oats in a food processor, until they are quite fine
  2. Mix all the ingredients together, apart from the apple slices, and stir until smooth
  3. Pour the mixture into the Lékué Waffle Mould
  4. Bake for 15 – 20 minutes or until the waffles are firm to the touch and golden brown
  5. Turn them out onto a baking tray and cook for a further 4 or 5 minutes
  6. Garnish with the apple slices You could even serve them with a couple of teaspoons of sugar free syrup – but don’t forget to syn it!

When I tried these I split the mix and made two pancakes, placed one on the plate and then added mixed fruits and yoghurt and then put the other pancake on top.

You could also make one large pancake and once topped fold it over. 



I would probably substitute one of the fruit flavoured Alpen Light bars, frozen mixed fruits and a Fruit Muller Light yoghurt as not mad on Toffee flavour yoghurts

SW topping for fish

1 egg, separated
1/2 tablespoon of self raising flour (1 syn)
pinch of paprika

plus of course your fish

works out at 1/2 syn per serving

Slimming World friendly Raspberry bakewell baked oats. 35g oats (HeaB) 1 tbs sweetener, 1 tsp almond essence, 1 egg, 50ml water, Mix ingredients together and place in a small ovenproof pot, add 50g frozen raspberries (1/2 syn) and bake for 35 minutes at 200 degrees. Enjoy!

Slimming world Turkish delight jellies 

1 syn for the whole lot! 2 sachets gelatine 1 tbs cocoa powder(1 syn) 3 tbs sweetener 2 tbs mullerlight vanilla yogurt Capful of rose essence 1/4 pint boiling water Add all the ingredients to a bowl and mix with a whisk until all blended together. Place in a mould (use the silicon ones as they are easier to get the chocolates out of once set) and refrigerate for about 30 minutes. Pop out of the mould and serve. You could add different flavourings depending on your taste. Experiment! Only 1 syn for the whole lot, made about 30 jellies




Cheesy Bacon Potatoes

Makes 2 portions at 2.25 syns per portion (cheese sauce mix)

2 x heaped dessert spoons of Bisto Cheese sauce granules
4 rashers bacon (all visible fat cut away and cut in to small bits
1 onion diced
1 tin chopped tomatoes DRAINED

Spray fry pan with FryLight and cook off the onions and bacon bits
Mix diced onion, chopped bacon bits and drained chopped tomatoes and season with Salt & Pepper to taste
Slice potatoes and steam until just soft
Spray fry pan with Fry Light and gently brown the potato slices
Cover the bottom of a baking dish with the potatoes and cover them with half of the onion/bacon/tomato mix.
Add another layer of potatoes and repeat with the remaining onion/bacon/tomato mix
Add a final layer of potatoes
Mix the cheeses sauce granules in 200 ml boiling water and whisk until smooth
Pour over the top of the potato layer
Bake in oven at 180’ C until the cheese sauce starts bubbling

Beef and Pearl Barley broth

500g Beef mince (5% fat)
1 cup of Pearl Barley
1 finely chopped onion
2 Knorr beef stock pots
Salt & Pepper to taste
2 table spoonful of gravy granules (2 syns)

  1. Seal off mince and onion in a pan.
  2. Transfer mince and onion into the slow cooker along with 2 pints boiling water.
  3. Add the Knorr beef stock pots
  4. Add the cup of pearl barley
  5. Set slow cooker to HIGH and leave to cook.
  6. Once the pearl barley is cooked add salt&pepper  to suit your tastes.
  7. Mix in the gravy granules and leave for a further 10 minutes.


Leek/bacon/pasta dish

Fine slice one leek ‘free’
Dice 3 rashers lean bacon ‘free’ ALL fat removed
Pre cook any pasta you like, ‘free’
3 tablespoon Elmlea single cream ‘3 syns’
Spray wok with frylight (2 pumps)
Cook bacon bits and add leek, cook until leek is soft
Add cooked pasta (choose amount for 2)
Cook until pasta warm
Add cream and stir through
Divide between two plates and enjoy
1.5 syns per portion
You can substitute 2 tablespoon of Quark or fat free natural yoghurt and make it syn free
